Personal Account: The Yoni Egg
I don’t know about you but I am a big fan of Goop. If you haven’t heard of it…
“In 2008, Gwyneth Paltrow launched Goop from her kitchen as a homespun weekly newsletter. It’s grown a lot since then. We operate from a place of curiosity and nonjudgment, and we start hard conversations, crack open taboos, and look for connection and resonance everywhere we can find it. We don’t mind being the tip of the spear—in short, we go first so you don’t have to. We’re glad you’re here.”
Goop is where I first learned of Yoni egg. What is a Yoni Egg? Also from the Goop website…
“Yoni eggs harness the power of energy work, crystal healing, and a Kegel-like physical practice. Insert the egg into your vagina and feel the connection with your body by squeezing and releasing the egg.”
Yoni Egg Quick Disclaimer
This is not an endorsement nor a suggestion to my readers to jump into their own personal journey with The Yoni Egg. This article is only my personal account of my experience with The Yoni Egg.
Researching The Yoni Egg
I started the research phase by simply typing “yoni egg” into Google. Not surprisingly, there was a very mixed bag of reviews, opinions, uses, and risks associated with this seemingly mythical, magical egg. I felt the research was extraordinarily necessary because I was about to put this egg-shaped gem into my vagina.

The Yoni Egg Pros
The purported benefits of using the Yoni Egg.
- Improved Sex Life
Yoni eggs may increase blood flow and improve circulation, they may increase sensitivity during sex.
- Help With Urinary Incontinence
Yoni eggs may reduce urinary leakage by “toning” the muscles of your vagina.
- Toning of the pelvic floor and vaginal muscles
In order to keep these eggs inside the vaginal canal, the muscles of the pelvic floor have to continually contract.
- Healing power of mind, body, spirit
Yoni eggs are a powerful cleansing tool, used for purging negative energies and inviting positive forces to occupy your body. They can strengthen your connection to Mother Earth, the energies of the universe, and your feminine identity. In addition, yoni eggs can be used to strengthen your body’s chakras and to heal blockages located at various chakra points.
The Yoni Egg Cons
The purported dangers of using the Yoni Egg.
- Bacterial and fungal infections
Gemstones like jade and onyx are semi-porous, which means there’s space for bacteria to take up residence within them.
- Toxic shock syndrome
Typically associated with leaving a tampon in too long, toxic shock syndrome is essentially a ramped-up bacterial infection that can lead to serious health issues and even death.
- Damage to your pelvic floor muscles
Although pelvic floor training has been shown to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles, using a yoni egg requires you to continually clench your vaginal muscles, which can actually cause harm.
Yoni Egg Real Reviews
Yoni egg reviews I scoured from Amazon, Reddit, YouTube, ect. For the record, I found multiple negative reviews but almost 100% of those reviews came from people who have never used them. The reviews posted below are from women who have actually tried the Yoni egg.
I have tried silicone kegel balls, and the same size silicone was much more difficult to insert. This egg is much easier. After about a week of training, I no longer feel my bladder bulging out, and controlling my urge to pee is much easier. I expect that continued use will strengthen my walls even further.

…Physically, it didn’t do anything for me. Sex felt the same. I didn’t feel any more or less connected to my pelvic floor. It made me wonder what else I could carry around up there without noticing.

So what did I think of the Chakrubs and Goop yoni eggs? They actually were pretty comfy, and as a gal who is low key a total slut for yoga, I can totally see myself using them — especially during my practice lights incense.

Age has been cruel to my bladder. At times I could feel my bladder pushing out through my vaginal opening, and sneezes or coughs could be awkward. This egg is well made — very smooth and just the right size for training the vaginal walls that should’ve kept my bladder in place. You can use this egg by itself, or you can use unwaxed, unflavored dental floss with the drilled holes in the egg. I use just a dot of lube for easier insertion. I have tried silicone kegel balls, and the same size silicone was much more difficult to insert. This egg is much easier.

My First Yoni Egg
AITELEI Rose Quartz Yoni Eggs
Mostly due to the reviews and 4.4 star average rating from 647 Amazon purchasers, I decided on the Aitelei Rose Quartz Yoni Eggs from Amazon. Unfortunately, they didn’t have the overnight shipping option (yea, I’m pretty pumped to try these babies out) so I have to wait a couple of days for them to arrive.
